One of the most significant changes is that now businesses can select how they want their followers to contact them. Previously, followers could only interact via the comment function in the app. Now, followers can call, text, or email by tapping the contact button. Businesses can select which method of contact they prefer when setting up their business account. The app will also include maps and directions to businesses within their profiles.
Another exciting development is the addition of analytics to business Instagram accounts. Following in the footsteps of other social media sites like Facebook and Twitter, Instagram will now offer statistics on reach, demographics, post impressions, and more.
The app has also added new tools to promote posts from business accounts. This feature allows businesses to turn a popular post into an ad with the click of a button. Businesses will be able to target a specific audience or you can let Instagram target for you.
At this time, these new business tools will only be available to those users who already have a Facebook business page. However, this may change in the future dependent on feedback.
